Kindle vs. Paperback

The husband and I are big readers. We always have been. A couple of months ago, my husband got a Kindle. He had been wanting one ever since they came out so to say he was excited to finally have it in his hands in a slight understatement. So, since he has had it, every time I say I'd like to purchase a book he says "just buy it online and use the Kindle" (that's verbatim...everytime)! Here's me: I don't like it. I like a good old fashion paperback, preferrably used! I like picking it up and flipping through the pages, knowing that someone else has been cuddled up in a blanket or out on the beach, reading the same exact book, from the same exact page as me. Is that wierd? No? Thanks. The husband thinks thats part gross and part wierd. Whatev. So, my question is...Are you a Kindle user?

Or, do you prefer a hardcover/paperback?

Here are just two of the books that are in my Amazon.com shopping cart right now: I'm always on the lookout for a good book...What are reading right now?

  1. So I totally agree with you about there just being something magical about a book, BUT I DO have a Kindle and I DO LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! It's so nice at night holding my light little page in my hand, it doesnt hurt my fingers holding open the pages. It's super easy to toss in my purse if Im going to let the kids play at McD's, and I know I always have something to read wherever I am! LOVE IT!

  2. Sorry...I'm with Mike here. I don't get totally grossed out by the thought of reading a used book...I simply don't "think" about it...I just read the book...but if I had my preference, I would buy it new. Now...I have my iPad and use the Kindle application on it...and L.O.V.E. it!!! Will I go back to books...maybe if I knew I was going to be reading outside in the sun...otherwise, I really like them electronically!!! :o) Sorry!!! Now...the next step for me is to be able to stay awake to read! LOL!!! :o)

  3. I am with you on this one Morgan, same conversation held in our house. I prefer real books, while I have never considered much the thought of how many other readers, that just made me love reading a paperback. My huge fav is reading in the bathtub and wouldn't ever consider holding one of those things in the tub. Great topic choice!
